Our key competencies in the area of Substation SCADA Systems, ranging from design, engineering, configuration, acceptance test procedures, installation and commissioning of the Substation SCADA System together with a robust utility grade network solution.
Design
Design of the SCADA system incorporating remote terminal units with discrete inputs and outputs, serial and Ethernet based communications and a Human Machine Interface (HMI) system to visualize the substation primary and secondary plant. All designs follow a strict development methodology with functional and detail design documentation prior to the engineering and production phase.
Engineering & Integration
Engineering the SCADA system to facilitate communications to all site Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED’s) and communications equipment whilst using industry proven devices. Integration of all system components in the SCADA panel catering for all power requirements and communication interfaces. Integration with the client’s power plant controller from the renewable energy plant to enable power regulation and supervision from the local Network Service Provider (NSP). Producing the relevant Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings for panel production and wiring.
Configuration
Configuration of the full SCADA system including communication gateways, HMI viewer pages and WAN networking equipment to provide system wide communications for data exchange and supervision. Configuration of statistical and tariff metering for billing and measurements purposes. Configuration of modems and SMS gateways for remote access and notifications to operating personnel.
Acceptance Testing
Acceptance testing of the SCADA system at the factory works (Factory Acceptance Testing) and on site (Site Acceptance Testing) proving design functionality and interoperability with protection, metering and measurement devices. All tests are documented and signed off by the testing parties for the clients records.
Installation
Installing the SCADA panel on site and terminating all communications and alarm cabling for supervision by the main data concentrator. Installation of distribution frames and termination of alarm cables from the data concentrator and protection panels. Installation of antennas for GPS satellite signal and remote access to the site.
Commissioning
Testing and commissioning of the SCADA system with the interfaces from the protection and metering system. Local and remote commissioning of all alarms, indications and controls from the local HMI and remote NSP control centre. Documentation of all tests for client records.
